Uncovering the Power of Root Cause Therapy
Have you ever felt like something keeps holding you back no matter how much you try to move forward? Like there’s a fear you can’t quite shake, an emotional wound that refuses to heal, or a feeling that you are blocked from stepping into your greatness at every turn. Maybe, you find yourself in one dysfunctional relationship after the other and you desperately want off the merry-go-round.
That’s what it was like for me, living with cPTSD—a journey of struggle, overcoming many blocks before embracing resilience, and eventually, transformation.
When I first began exploring different healing modalities, I learned the hard way that addressing symptoms alone wasn’t enough. True healing requires peeling back the layers and uncovering the root cause of our pain, which has kept us stuck in cycles of stress and overwhelm.
For those of us who’ve experienced deep wounds—whether they stem from childhood experiences, relationships, or life’s unexpected challenges—the journey towards true healing often feels daunting. But what if there was a way to not only break free from the weight of unresolved trauma but also to turn that healing into a tool to help others?
That’s exactly what The Centre for Healing offers with their Root Cause Therapy (RCT): a transformative approach to healing that empowers you to address your pain at its core and, if it speaks to you, pass that gift forward.
What Is Root Cause Therapy?
Root Cause Therapy is a deeply transformative evidence-based healing modality designed to uncover the origins of trauma and emotional pain. Instead of focusing solely on surface-level symptoms, this approach gets to the heart of the matter—where and how the trauma originated—so it can be released and healed.
Here’s the truth: Many of the struggles we face today—whether it’s anxiety, self-doubt, or chronic patterns of anger or avoidance—are rooted in unprocessed emotions and beliefs we developed during earlier life experiences. Without addressing their origins, the cycle continues.
Through a combination of somatic awareness, timeline regression, and inner work, Root Cause Therapy helps you safely access and process your emotions, freeing you from old patterns and allowing you to move forward with clarity and peace. It’s not about coping—it’s about truly healing.
Trauma often isn’t about what happened to us, but about how we internalised those experiences. Root Cause Therapy helps uncover the beliefs and emotional imprints that were formed in those pivotal moments, which continue to impact how we think, feel, and behave today.
This isn’t about reliving the pain—it’s about rewriting the narrative in a way that empowers us to release what no longer serves us.

How Root Cause Therapy Changed My Healing Journey
During the height of my postnatal depression, I often wished I had access to resources that could have helped me understand and manage my PTSD better.
Seeing a therapist regularly never really got to the root causes. After years of seeing different therapists, who mostly relied on talking my way through my feelings, but never truly delving deeper into their origins, I discovered the benefits of addressing the root cause through various techniques.
Incorporating therapies based on the concepts of addressing the root causes behind my trauma responses was like finding the missing piece of the puzzle. For the first time, I wasn’t just managing my symptoms—I was uncovering the beliefs and patterns that had been driving them all along. It was liberating to realise that these patterns didn’t define me; they were simply the result of unprocessed experiences that could be healed.
One of the most profound realisations I had during this journey was how much of my trauma had been stored in my body. By tapping into the root causes of my pain, I learned how to safely access and process these stored emotions, which freed me from years of tension, self-doubt, and emotional overwhelm.
I battled for many years trying to figure all this out on my own, exploring so many different modalities. The Healing Centre has taken the best of the trauma modalities and put them into a concise and easy-to-digest certification course (RCT). Don’t wait another decade of trying to go it alone; take a look at their course and see if it feels right for you.
Why Addressing the Root Causes of Trauma Matters
Trauma isn’t just an event—it’s the way our mind and body respond to an experience that feels overwhelming or unsafe. Left unresolved, trauma can show up in our lives as anxiety, depression, physical illness, self-sabotaging behaviours, and a sense of being disconnected from ourselves and others.
Root Cause Therapy works because it doesn’t just help you “manage” these symptoms—it helps you heal them at their source. By addressing trauma where it lives in the mind and body, this therapy creates lasting transformation. You’re no longer bound by the patterns of the past—you’re free to create a future that feels aligned, peaceful, and fulfilling.
Why Root Cause Therapy Works
Root Cause Therapy stands out because it blends the science of the mind-body connection with a compassionate, individualised approach to healing.
Here’s why it’s so effective:
Holistic Healing: It addresses trauma not only on a mental level but also on an emotional and physical level, recognising how interconnected these aspects are.
Empowerment: Instead of feeling like a passive participant, you take an active role in your healing process, gaining the tools and understanding to continue your growth.
Deep Transformation: By uncovering and releasing the root causes, you’re not just putting a Band-Aid on the pain—you’re resolving it at its core.
Ripple Effect: The benefits extend beyond you. As you heal, you naturally create more harmonious relationships, stronger boundaries, and a greater sense of purpose.
The Ripple Effect of Healing

One of the most beautiful things about healing is that it doesn’t stop with you. When you heal, you become a source of strength, love, and positivity for those around you. Your relationships improve, your energy shifts, and the people in your life feel the effects of your transformation.
For me, the ripple effect was profound. As I healed, I noticed changes in how I connected with others, especially with how I related to my son. I became more present, more compassionate, and more open to love and joy. It wasn’t just my life that changed—it was the way I experienced the world. I made a decision early on in my son’s life that I wasn’t going to pass on my trauma wounds to another generation.
Reflecting on the challenges I faced and observing how he matured into a resilient, intelligent and compassionate young man, I think I did alright.
And that’s the magic of Root Cause Therapy. It doesn’t just help you—it helps everyone you touch.
Real Change Is Possible for You, Too
If you’re feeling stuck—if you’ve tried everything and nothing seems to work—I want you to know that there is hope. Root Cause Therapy doesn’t just help you “cope” with trauma—it helps you heal at the deepest levels. It’s a method that works with your mind and your body, empowering you to reclaim your life.
Imagine waking up every day without the weight of the past holding you back. Imagine feeling calm, confident, and free to create the life you’ve always wanted. That’s what this therapy makes possible.
And if, like me, you feel a calling to help others, this course offers the tools to turn your healing journey into a mission of compassion and support.

One of my favourite methods for healing from trauma, in addition to RCT, is therapeutic journaling, so much so that I wrote an eBook as a roadmap for others,

What You’ll Learn in the Root Cause Therapy Course
Here are some of the techniques you may explore in the course, along with examples of how they can transform lives:
1. Inner Child Work: Reconnecting with the Past
Technique: Through guided imagery, you’ll connect with the younger version of yourself to offer the comfort and support you didn’t receive at the time.
Example: A woman struggling with feelings of unworthiness traced those beliefs back to a moment in childhood when her father criticised her for getting a ‘C’ in a school project. By revisiting this memory, she was able to release the shame and reclaim her sense of worth.
Benefit: Develop self-awareness and confront maladapted thought patterns/beliefs. Foster self-compassion, heal old wounds and help you reconnect with your authentic self.
2. Timeline Regression: Finding the Root Cause
Technique: You’ll be gently guided back to the earliest memory linked to a current emotional block, then reprocess the emotions tied to that memory.
Example: A man with a fear of failure uncovered a childhood moment where he was humiliated in front of his peers. By addressing the pain and reframing the experience, he gained confidence and started pursuing his goals without fear.
Benefit: Identifies and clears subconscious blocks, allowing you to break free from self-sabotaging patterns.
3. Body-Based Awareness: Releasing Trauma in the Body
Technique: You’ll be guided to focus on physical sensations in the body to locate and release stored trauma.
Example: During a session, a client discovered tightness in her chest every time she thought about confrontation. By bringing awareness to that sensation, she realized it was tied to unresolved fear from growing up in a critical household. Once processed, she felt lighter and more at ease in difficult conversations.
Benefit: Reduces physical symptoms of trauma and deepens your connection to your body.
4. Trigger Mapping: Rewiring Emotional Reactions
Technique: You’ll be trained to identify emotional triggers and trace them back to their origin, reprogramming your response to similar situations in the future.
Example: A mother struggling with explosive anger towards her children realised her reactions were linked to feelings of helplessness from childhood. Through Root Cause Therapy, she learned to pause, process, and respond calmly instead of reacting out of unresolved fear.
Benefit: Empowers you to respond intentionally to life’s challenges instead of being ruled by old patterns.
